Carrie Underwood Concert

My Birthday Week
I had a week full of fun for my birthday. I have such amazing people in my life and I am grateful each day for each of them.

My official birthday was on the 11th. Steve and I both worked during the day but when he came home we celebrated. He came home with roses (he knows how much I love flowers!) - they were a rustic orange color - perfect for Fall! He then proceeded to make me a delicious dinner. We had steak, crab, asparagus and potatoes. It was wonderful and a very special day. I loved the card that he got me. It said, "To My Wife. It's hard to tell you how much our relationship means to me because just when i think it's as good as it can get...it gets even better!" It was the best birthday card. I'm so grateful for Steve. He is so wonderful to me and helps me to enjoy life and always have fun in the journey.

Republican Party - Go Max!!
Our brother-in-law Max Burdick (married to Steve's sister Cheri), ran for Salt Lake County Council. After a long 6 months and a lot of hard work Max won!! We are ecstatic for him and his family. On November 4th while many others were struggling with the outcomes of the day - we felt very blessed. This is an excellent opportunity for Max who is such an amazing, humble man. We were able to attend the Republican Party at the Grand America on Tuesday night. It was a neat opportunity to be among other candidates that night. Although I have definite reservations on what our future has in store, I am so grateful to live in America and have the freedoms we do. I hope our nation will be successful in these rough times. Here are a few pictures of our fun night out.

The Wii
I love the Wii!! We bought the Wii a few months before we got married. It was okay at first - didn't love the games we had originally. We now have Playground (dodgeball, tetherball, slot car racing) and MarioKart. It is so much fun! We had a few friends over the other night and one of them brought over Rockband (thanks Joe). Now we want to save up to get it. It is a lot of fun and I think all who played really enjoyed it.
John Deere
According to Steve - John Deere is the greatest. He has this unbelievably weird fettish with anything John Deere. We went to Lowe's a few days ago and I just had to laugh at him. He saw the new John Deere snow blowers out and just had to touch it and check it out. I'm afraid he is going to want to really name our first born John Deere (JD for short). I'm not loving it so much!
Halloween
Ok, so I've never been a huge Halloween fan. I just have never really gotten into it but I love to see the cute kids. Zoey was darling this year. She was an Elephant. I decided to take the day off of work and spend most of it with Jenn & Zoey. We had so much fun attending Zoey's preschool performance. Zoey did a great job parading around and singing the songs they have learned. Afterwards, I went with Jenn & Zoey to Grandma Knighton's and Grandma Lewis'. Grandma Lewis always makes yummy chili and cereal balls - I look forward to spending time with them each Halloween.
Decorating
So, I'm trying to fix up my house with some cute decorating. I've got all of the boxes unpacked now I'm deciding where to hang things. I had to share a picture of my cute fireplace/mantel. I just love it. I found some cute Fall decor at Michaels. Steve hung a mirror on the wall above the fireplace - it was his Grandma's. It looks great and adds so much to our living room.
Afternoon in Park City & Heber
I love Fall! This seems anticlimatic now that it has started snowing. But on October 18th we took a drive to Park City & Heber. It was fun to spend an afternoon with Steve, my mom, Jenny & Zoey. Steve & I wanted to go to Park City to check out some of the outlets and Jenny wanted to take some Fall pics of Zoey. We went up on the spur of the moment and what a fun trip. We did a little shopping in Park City and drove a little further to Heber. My mom always enjoys a drive - and with the leaves beginning to change it was beautiful. We had some dinner at a local restaurant in Heber - The Hub. It was pretty good. We enjoyed our afternoon up in the mountains. I don't take advantage of our gorgeous surroundings enough. I'm grateful for Utah - it is a wonderful place to live!
Ward Chili Cookoff
Steve loves to cook...and I am so grateful. I've never really loved it, I don't mind doing it occasionally but have never really felt good at it. Well, Steve loves it and is good at it so my life is so much easier. We decided to attend our ward's fall festival on October 15th. They have several games, mostly for kids. They also have a chili and pie cook/bake-off. Steve entered and took 2nd place. There were about 20 different chilis there and I told him that was really good. He was kind of insulted - he expected to take 1st. The lady who won had a vegetarian type chili - Steve said that is like illegal to do. Needless to say, his chili was a hit. I forgot to take my camera so these pics are of us once we got home. I made Steve smile with his chili even though he was already about to go to bed! What a good sport!
Catching up...
Ok, so I really haven't been as boring as my blog appears to have indicated. We have been busy and I'm finally getting around to posting. So here goes...
