We celebrated Jake's birthday the night of his actual birthday. We had planned to have a "picnic in the park", but as we were setting up, the wind was terrible and the clouds looked like they were going to open with buckets... So, thanks to my wonderful sister and brother-in-law, we made a last minute change and moved the party to their place! It all worked out just fine and we were still able to have a picnic, indoors. It was great to have so much of our family able to be there. I love them and am grateful for all of their support this past year. How thankful we are for this sweet little boy. He is a joy and a blessing to us. Life would be so boring without him!

Kim, he is such a doll and truly a miracle in your lives. I smile every time I see Layney in your photos because I think how cool that he is being raised so closely with one of his birth siblings and even cooler now that I realize your family has two others as well. Your adoption of Jake is such a beautiful story and I love to see your and Steve's happy faces with him, it brings a joy and smile to my face and I've never even met the sweet boy!
