Layney K. Spencer

What an experience! Our family has been able to be a part of the most amazing blessing I ever thought possible over the past few days. Jenn & Ben were able to adopt a new baby girl! They welcomed Layney K. Spencer to their family, born July 28th at 7:25pm. She is a tiny thing - birth weight 6 pounds 1 ounce and 18 inches long. She has beautiful dark eyes and dark hair, long fingers and feet. She is absolutely beautiful and we are so lucky to get to have her in our family. Adoption papers were signed the following night on July 29th - what a wonderful, spiritual, trying experience. This baby was placed with LDS Family Services - I think my whole family has gained an appreciation and testimony of the adoption experience. We are so excited to have Layney here - we've been waiting 4 years for her to come to our family! Zoey is such a loving big sister. She has always said that she wants to be an animal doctor when she grows up...she has now changed that and wants to be a baby doctor.

24th of July - 2010

We had a fun 24th of July this year. We had a family breakfast at my Grandma & Grandpa's home in Bountiful to celebrate the July birthday's in our family - Mom and Shelly. We had yummy pancakes, breakfast casserole, fruit and bacon. We then had to have a little water fight. Most of us were able to stay out of it this year...but Alan was a good sport and got into it with Zoey! That night, we went to Jenn & Ben's home and had a bbq. We then drove out to South Jordan and did fireworks at Ben's brother's home. Lots of fun and fireworks!

Weekend Trip to Lava Hot Springs

Steve and I spent a weekend in July at Lava Hot Springs with Jenn, Ben, Zoey and Zoey's cousin Taylor. We had such a fun time camping, cooking, swimming and playing. The hot springs were awesome! Zoey and Taylor loved swimming at the big water park. We had a fun time hanging out with our wonderful family. Steve even won a dutch oven cooking competition...and was pretty psyched about it! He now walks around telling everyone he is an award-winning-chef. They were pretty awesome potatoes...Zoey even liked them - and anyone who knows Zoey, knows it isn't easy to get her to eat much!

Macey makes a mess...

Macey has a way of making it known that she isn't happy when the two of us leave the house together without her. She does fine when one of us leaves at a time but anytime we are both going out together she shares with us how she feels about it. One time we came home from church and she had her way with the tissue box. She has done this a few times and this was the first time I remembered to take a picture. You'd think we'd learn to remember to not leave the tissue box where she can get it!

Gabriel Iglesias Show - May 2010

Steve and I saw comedian, Gabriel Iglesias, in Wendover! It was a fun show and we were able to get away together... Gabriel was hilarious and we had a great time with one another!

Trip to South Carolina - May 2010

In May, I was able to spend a week in South Carolina! I was asked to attend a 3-day conference in Charleston for work. When I found out the conference was in SC, I was ecstatic! I asked if I could fly out a few days early and spend the weekend with some friends from my mission...if you don't know I served in SC 10 years ago. It was awesome to catch up with friends and to see the sites that I loved while I was there. I spent the weekend in Sumter - made visits to Mama & Papa Buckner and Ken & Denise Buonforte Family. It was so fun to catch up and spend time with them. On Sunday, one of my companions who now lives in SC was able to come over with her family and we were able to spend the afternoon together. I attended one of the wards I served in and got to see and catch up with some great people. Then I traveled by myself to Charleston for 3 days of work. I had time to enjoy the sites of Charleston while working, so that was pretty nice. Can't wait to get back there again!
