Our Wedding Pictures

So, I was slightly irritated that we just got our wedding pictures back...I mean it has been 3 MONTHS (oh, and Steve did surprise me with some beautiful Gerber Daisies on Friday). But, I was so happy with the results that I'm willing to overlook the time to get them. Here are a few of my favorites.

Can't BELIEVE It!

I was just looking at my Blog and couldn't believe I hadn't posted anything in December. So here goes...a little catch-up.

This month has brought some good things, some not so good things, fun times and catching up with old friends. At the first of the month I got to go to lunch with an old time neighborhood best friend - Amber Mann. It was so fun to catch up on what we have done the past 15 years of our lives. Her family was amazing growing up and I can remember many fun times with them. We were the bestest of friends for the longest time. Her family moved away in our teens and we hadn't really kept in touch...thanks to Facebook we were able to catch up!

We went to our ward Christmas party this year. It was some good times...just ask Steve. I think he loved the company of ward members and the dinner was pretty good, however when it came to the entertainment...the Cyprus High Madrigals and Dance Choir he just couldn't contain himself. It really isn't his thing but he made it through.

I got my hair done by my cute hair lady Jaime...who is about to have a new baby any day! I love going to see her every other month, it just makes you feel good. Well, the next day I wasn't feeling good...had the worst day of my life (so far!) I think anyway. I had a severe gallbladder attack. Well, I didn't know it was my gallbladder at first. I was having severe chest pain, seriously thought I was going to die. I spent all day in the ER with no clear diagnosis except the ER doc had ruled out everything else. The next day I returned to the hospital for a HIDA scan so they could view the function of my gallbladder...surprise, it doesn't work! So I am scheduled to have the thing removed on January 6th. I was ticked they couldn't do it before the end of the year, I mean deductible has been met, I have some time off work...oh well, guess I have to deal with it. Oh, and I have to be careful what I eat...just when I want to eat everything before the BIGGEST LOSER contest. I know, guess it is stupid to do whatever you want and then completely change your whole diet come January 1st. Oh well...guess that is what is happening!

Last week we took my mom to see Glenn Beck's Christmas Sweater show. It was amazing...I'm such a fan of Glenn Beck. He is a wonderful speaker, but his acting ability was pretty impressive. I loved the message of the Christmas Sweater. If you haven't read his book, I highly recommend it...so good! Last week was also Zoey's Christmas Dance Recital. She was so darn cute. Last year she didn't move off her star...this year it was difficult to keep her on it. Oh well, what can you do, she is 3!

I did some last minute shopping yesterday. The crowds were terrible. I tell myself every year that I won't put it off and every year I do. It ended up being a good day and I think I'm done...with 5 days to spare!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I'm looking forward to a few more Christmas parties this week with friends and family. I will post some Christmas pics, haven't taken any pictures of our other events this month!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was so wonderful this year. I have always loved this holiday - good food, family, football, games & fun. This year brought special meaning to me. I have never been as thankful for anyone in my entire life as I have been this year for Steve. Steve is such an amazing husband. I'm grateful to have such a good friend. He is always willing to help me with whatever I ask (and sometimes when I don't ask!) He loves me to no end and I feel the same. There isn't a day that has gone by that he hasn't made me feel like the luckiest woman on earth. He treats me with such kindness and respect. He tells me often how much he loves me. I love him so much and look forward to many, many years of happiness.

We spent the day at my Grandma Lewis' home. She outdid herself once again. Everyone helped contribute to the best dinner ever. I felt so guilty because all I had to bring was whip cream! I guess I'll get a bigger assignment next time. Our whole family was there this year. We are so blessed to have so much. This time of year always makes me think about how blessed I truly am. After a nap and a round of scrabble we headed to Cheri's house. We spent a few hours just talking to Cheri & Max. How grateful I am for such wonderful in-laws. They are amazing people. Steve has such a great family and I am thankful to know them and be a part of their family.

Grandpa & Grandma watching Zo. They just love her and boy does she love them. Zo loves to go to Grandma "Wewis's" house (she doesn't say her L's so good).

Shelly & Zo - eatin' some pie!

And the word of the day - SCRABBLE! We've always played scrabble or done puzzles on Thanksgiving.

I couldn't get a serious picture out of him the whole day... so here is the best I could get - I know, he looks a little crazy!?

Zoey helping Grandma Lewis unwrap her presents.
We celebrated Grandma Lewis' birthday after dinner. Monica wrapped a stuffed animal that Zoey was playing with and Zo opened it over and over. She just laughed over that. Talk about making Christmas easy this year... just re-wrap things she already has - she really just likes opening them!

Date Night with Zoey

On Wednesday Steve and I took Zoey out for the night. Jenn & Ben had tickets to a show at the Conference Center and we got Zo for the night. We had a fun time with her. We went to dinner to her favorite place - McDonald's. We went to a new show "Bolt"... so cute! She loved it, but we loved it too. And then we had to end the night at ColdStone. I just couldn't pass it up. Zo picked out the blue ice cream with sprinkles. She took one bite and then said, "I just like to lick it"... or in other words, "I don't really like it!" She is one picky eater but we love her to death!

Carrie Underwood Concert

Last Wednesday I went out with Jenn, Megan & Dawn. We went to the Carrie Underwood Concert!! It was so much fun. Carrie is absolutely amazing. She put on such a good show - she is so darn cute, fun personality and has a voice that never ends. It was such a fun night. Thanks girls!

Little Big Town opened the show and they were great too.

My Birthday Week

I had a week full of fun for my birthday. I have such amazing people in my life and I am grateful each day for each of them.

We started off by having breakfast at Ramblin Roads on a Saturday morning. It was also my sister-in-law, Sarah's b-day, so we made it a joint family party. Breakfast was delicious and the company was even better. I have such a wonderful family.

My official birthday was on the 11th. Steve and I both worked during the day but when he came home we celebrated. He came home with roses (he knows how much I love flowers!) - they were a rustic orange color - perfect for Fall! He then proceeded to make me a delicious dinner. We had steak, crab, asparagus and potatoes. It was wonderful and a very special day. I loved the card that he got me. It said, "To My Wife. It's hard to tell you how much our relationship means to me because just when i think it's as good as it can get...it gets even better!" It was the best birthday card. I'm so grateful for Steve. He is so wonderful to me and helps me to enjoy life and always have fun in the journey.

I ended the week going to a movie with Zo. Jenn had a doctor's appt on Friday afternoon and so I took Zoey to see Madagascar 2. My mom joined us and it was so much fun. It was a cute movie and Zoey had a blast.

So I saw this post on Kim T.'s blog and then remembered I saw it on Michelle's and Mailyn's too - sorry Mayo, finally getting around to your tag.

2. How long did you date before you got married? 8 months

3. How long have you been married? 7 weeks today

4. What is your favorite feature of his? His eyes and his lips

10. When and where was your first kiss? Our first kiss was on Feb. 5th at his house. It was our 3rd date and the first time I went to his place. He made me dinner. 15. Who said "I love you" first? Steve did, but I said it right back

16. What is his favorite type of music? Talk radio is always first - unless I'm in the car - then he listens to my kind of music (which he kind of likes too!)

17. What do you admire most about him? His love for me and my family. He'd do anything for me and he also would do anything for my family. He often asks, "What's your mom doing tonight? Do you want to have her over for dinner?" He is a sweetheart and I'm lucky to be so loved!

I tag all the married women who read my blog.

Republican Party - Go Max!!

Our brother-in-law Max Burdick (married to Steve's sister Cheri), ran for Salt Lake County Council. After a long 6 months and a lot of hard work Max won!! We are ecstatic for him and his family. On November 4th while many others were struggling with the outcomes of the day - we felt very blessed. This is an excellent opportunity for Max who is such an amazing, humble man. We were able to attend the Republican Party at the Grand America on Tuesday night. It was a neat opportunity to be among other candidates that night. Although I have definite reservations on what our future has in store, I am so grateful to live in America and have the freedoms we do. I hope our nation will be successful in these rough times. Here are a few pictures of our fun night out.
