What a mess!!

So, I was down in our unfinished basement this morning and realized we are such pack-rats. Granted, we are storing some things for Steve's brother - but we have so much crap in our basement. I don't know what we are going to do with it all when we finally decide to work on finishing our basement. I am happy to say that we have worked on getting some food-storage and if our heat ever goes out we have plenty of sleeping bags to keep warm :)

New TOYS!!

Steve & I were excited to get a tax return this year! We weren't sure as this was our first year filing as "married". I hoped we had enough taken out of our checks to be ok, but I just wasn't sure. Anyway, we decided to splurge a little. We had some luck at RC Willey during their Presidents Day Sale. We actually were going to look for a new loveseat - one that had reclining capabilities. Since I hurt my back I have loved sitting in Steve's man-chair...well, he also loves it and so we decided we needed something new! While there, we ended up loving the whole set - so we got a new couch, love-seat and rocking chair. We haven't gotten the rocking chair yet. Of course Steve had to look at the electronics while we were there. We couldn't pass up the awesome savings on our new flatscreen TV! Of course we had no intentions on getting it, but when the price is right...and you are tired of the huge box TV's...we just had to do it. Steve and Ben have been cutting holes in our walls and creating outlets so we could hang the TV above our fireplace. It is still a little messy, but Steve hopes to have the wall re-painted today! I'm excited to have my living room put back together with new TOYS!!

Macey is so stinkin' CUTE!!

We love Macey! She is seriously the cutest dog!! She had a bath last night and so I am loving holding and smelling her. I used conditioner (which I don't always do) and she is so soft and smooth...I love it! Here are a few updates of her. She is wearing the cute little outfit her cousin Zoey gave her for Christmas. I love it, "Born With Style"! If Steve and I are in the recliner she is usually right on top of one of us. She is such a snuggle buddy and I just love her. Isn't she so cute?!

Another sleepover with Zoey & Maxwell

We had Zoey & Maxwell stay overnight a couple of weeks ago. We picked them up and headed to McDonald's for dinner. After dinner, we went to the Expo Center RV show. Steve and I are always dreaming of the what if's... Zoey & Maxwell loved going in and out of all of the RVs - they especially loved the ones with bunk-beds. They really love playing together. Once we got home we turned on the Wii and they were in heaven! We love our nieces and nephews and love having them over to play!

Wow...forgot to blog about our fabulous trip!

The end of January, Steve & I had a blast on vacation. We were away from home (& our Macey) for 10 whole days. We loved being away, but missed our Macey. It made it a little easier knowing she was being well taken care of at the Burdick/Riser household. We started our trip by spending a few days in California. It was fun to be able to spend some time with Lora (Steve's sister) and her family at Disneyland.

We were then able to spend half a day in San Diego prior to boarding our ship for our cruise. It was wonderful to have some time to go to the cemetary where Steve's mom, dad, brother and grandparents are buried. I struggle with knowing how Steve feels at times as I am lucky enough to have both of my parents and several grandparents still alive. We enjoyed our time together - I loved hearing stories Steve shared about his parents.

We were then on our way to Mexico! We boarded the ship and were on on our way. Can I tell you how much I love cruises!? It was so much fun. We spent a few days at sea while we traveled down to Cabo San Lucas. We chose this cruise in particular because of the 2 days we could spend in Cabo. We loved Cabo on our Honeymoon and knew we wanted to get back there someday. I think next time we may just go there and stay in a condo or something. It is beautiful and warm and perfect for the middle of winter. We left San Diego and it was a bit chilly, but pretty soon we found ourselves in Cabo loving it! We enjoyed the beach, the sun, yummy Mexican food and some shopping. After our 2 days in Cabo we headed back North to Ensenada for 1 day. The trip back up to Ensenada was NOT FUN! We faced pretty terrible weather on our way back up towards California. This was the week that California got hit hard with all that rain...ya, we were in the Ocean during that storm. Needless to say, I got a bit nauseous that day at sea. It was constant choppiness - like you were on a rocky lake on a ski-boat. In fact, the day I got sick, Steve went to get us some lunch and he said it was like a ghost town on the ship...not a lot of people were out and about. By the time we got to Ensenada - we were so excited to get off of the ship for the day. We spent the majority of our time walking around the city and shopping. We went near the shore and had some yummy fish & shrimp tacos before getting back on the ship. I was surprised by the cost of our lunch - we both had 3 tacos - and they were quite large - we also each got a Diet Coke and it came with chips and salsa. The total cost of our meal was $10.50 US dollars - we gave them $15 and you would have thought we gave them the world. It reminded me just how blessed we are for all that we have!

The last night, I had a slight mishap :( We were packing our suitcases to place outside the door for luggage pickup. Somehow when I was lifting or bending, my back totally went out. It was really painful - so much in fact I could not walk that night and had to miss the last night of dinner in the dining room. Luckily, I had a few pain pills that my dentist had given me before (because I had to have a root canal when I got back!). Needless to say, the past month and a half has been a little rough determining what was wrong with my back. I found out from an MRI that I had a herniated disk and some degeneration. I had a spine injection that helped for a few days. Now I am working with a physical therapist to strengthen my back more. Knock on wood...this past week has been pretty good!
